The Hotel Carlton is ideally located 5 blocks from Union Square the heart of San Francisco's shopping, restaurants, theater districts and 3 blocks south of the California Cable Car line that passes through historic Chinatown and on through the Financial District. The hotel has recently undergone a complete renovation. Built in 1927, the Hotel Carlton can best be described as "international vintage," featuring eclectic and exotic touches from around the world that celebrate the joy of travel. One of the first impressions a guest is likely to have upon entering the hotel is that they have stepped into a grand private San Francisco estate- intimate, personal, and not at all stuffy. The lobby's residential yet global vintage style will inspire guests to linger in seating arrangements of both new and antique furniture upholstered in a variety of rich fabrics.
Each of the guestrooms offers a soft palette of soothing tones such as light breezy blue and cashmere cream, punctuated by touches of glowing colors like saffron, Oriental red and a cheerful persimmon (the colors were inspired by a vintage Indian sari). Rooms are appointed with both vintage-style and contemporary comforts such as marble-topped writing desk, cable TV with remote, telephone with dial-up Internet access (surcharge), voice messaging, coffeemaker and safe. All rooms have private bath with tub/shower, hairdryers and full size iron and ironing board. Additional residential features include ceiling fans and wood blinds on the windows. Guests can dine onsite at Saha, featuring "Arabic fusion" cuisine. This 66-seat café offers affordable breakfast and dinner menus. Guests are also invited to share a complimentary glass of wine at the Manager's nightly wine reception.
